6mm Operation Epsom game

Postby mluther » Wed Jul 28, 2010 2:04 pm

This is the first of what turned out to be 3 games that we played on Normandy table I set up. This is the opening attack by the British to try to get over the RR cut and into Mouen.
Rules were Toofatlardies' I Ain't Been Shot Mum.

Brilliant set up and looks like great fun. Look forward to a Goodwood AAR next ;)

What is the material that you use so effective for the ground to simulate Summer grass? Some kind of felt (but it looks better than standard felt)? I would love to use that on my table as well !

Richard,

That might be a commercial product for model RR. If not then it was a short furry fabric from the fabric store that was spray painted. Most of the mats are spray painted fur fabric.
Thanks,

Thanks, Martin. Will look into those sources for an eastern front set up.

Meanwhile what are some games that you have planed. Also I wonder whether you use Google Earth and such in your game tabletop research. Your landscapes look truly lifelike, just what a pilot on a low flying plane might see below.

Richard,

We played a couple of more games on that same table. I'll post picks of the Kampfruppe Frey attack shortly. I planned on doing a Kursk game this month, but didn't have a chance to get much work done on that scenario. -- A north flank game with Ferdinands.

What I rely on most are maps and pictures af the general area to give me a sense of what the terrain shoul look like. The Kursk game is pretty much open hillside. The Soviets are dug in behind wire and mines. I go for 'truthiness' in terrain.
